Bio
Erica Reed Lee is an artist and curator based in Houston, TX. Navigating the post-digital landscape, Lee makes work with an emphasis on tactility. Her studio practice includes paintings, artist books, and three-dimensional work.
Lee has exhibited at venues across the United States including Lawndale Art Center, Houston, TX; LBIF, Long Beach, NJ; and Big Medium, Austin, TX. In 2021, she received the Let Creativity Happen Grant from the City of Houston through the Houston Arts Alliance for her project From the Cave. In 2022, she has received the Kimbrough Artist Award from the Dallas Museum of Art.
Lee’s interest in the technological present extends to her curatorial practice. Her recent curatorial projects include Book Arts of Houston at The Printing Museum and Gathering What’s Tangible at Flatland Gallery.
In June 2022, Lee launched the Here & There Residency (HTR). Driving across the United States with her art practice, she explored the meaning of place and movement in the context of the digital present. While life in the camper was cut short after three months due to a family emergency, the project continues in Houston and online. Learn more here.
